For the last 62 years the Student Centre has been caring for student living standards of the University and the Polytechnic College Rijeka. It was founded on June 1st 1960 in Rijeka as an independent organization for the implementation of students’ social and personal standard of living. Today the Student Centre is an institution whose main activities include accomodation, catering, as well as temporary and periodical placement of students in parttime jobs.
ACCOMODATION
Student Dormitories “Ivan Goran Kovačić” Čandekova 4; 51000 RIJEKA
Accomodation
in the Student Dormitories is organized within five facilities which
have a capacity of 648 beds and 10 beds for international exchange
students. Eight apartments are situated in the fifth facility for guest
professors from international relations as well as Croatian professors
which are involved in research and scientific work at faculties, that
is, in various research projects. Pursuant to the Croatian Ministry of
Science,
Private Accomodation Pursuant to the Croatian Ministry of Science, Education and Sports decree, full-time students who are living as subtenants and renting from private landords are entitled to subsidized accomodation. A tender is eleased in the month of October for the current academic year.
TEMPORARY AND PERIODICAL STUDENT EMPLOYMENT

Students who have the status of full-time students are entitled to join the Student-Service. The status of full-ime student is claimed through a credible and authentic document (the student “Index“ – a certified Student Blue Book which contains all relevant information about the student, along with a certificate issued by a higher education institution), based on which a Student-Service membership card is issued to the student.
ORGANIZED STUDENT MEALS
Restaurant “Index” Krešimirova 18
Students have several features at their disposal at the restaurant “Index“, Krešimirova 18, which has a capacity of approximately 3500 meals daily: two self-service lines, a dairy restaurant, snack-bar, coffee bar and a pizzeria with customer service.
Restaurant “Mini” Student Dormitories “Ivan Goran Kovačić”
In the restaurant “Mini” - a self-service line, a spaghetteria and pizzeria - Student Dormitory “Ivan Goran Kovačić“ which prepares approximately 300 meals per day for students and those who are staying at the dormitories.
Restaurant “Kampus” University Campus Trsat
The restaurant “Kampus” has a developed gross area of max 6.500 m² and a capacity of 4.500 meals daily. It is built according to the latest technological concepts and consists of: a garage with a 100 parking spots, two selfservice lines, a pizzeria, snack-bar, and coffeeshop with a large terrace. The entire restaurant area has air-conditioning.
Kantina “Medicinar” The cafeteria “Medicinar”, Braće Branchetta 20, at the University of Rijeka Faculty of Medicine offers meals to students available with the student X-card or by unsubsidized payment for other visitors. It is situated in the surrounding park of the Faculty of Medicine. Only simple meals are offered, mainly sandwiches and hot beverages as well as various juices due to a lesser kitchen capacity and restricted area. |
